Sinaloa Cartel (Mexico) Founded in the late 1980s, the Sinaloa Cartel is one of Mexico’s most powerful and enduring drug trafficking organizations. Known for its vast international operations and influence, the cartel controls major smuggling corridors along the U.S.-Mexico border. Once led by Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, the cartel specializes in the trafficking of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, with operations reaching as far as Europe and Asia.
